| Objective To explore the relationship between Insulin Resistance(IR)and Alzheimer’s disease(AD).This study elaborated the AD in a new perspective about Insulin Resistance and further understanded the pathogenesis of AD.This study provided a new idea and method about the secondary prevention of AD and early detected the occult patients of AD,then provided a new idea and method about the prevention and treatment to AD.Methods 30 elderly patients with AD and 30 elderly normal physical examination people were selected as the AD group and the control group. Then we detected the fasting plasma glucose, the fasting insulin and C-peptide,glycosylated hemoglobin and glycated serum protein, then we calculated the insulin resistance index, insulin sensitivity index and insulin secretion index.Next we compared the differences between the two groups by the corresponding statistical methods. At the same time, according to CDR score(1,2,3 points),AD group were divided into three degrees about light, medium and heavy. Finally we did the Spearman correlation analysis with AD and the Insulin Resistance to assess the relevance. Results There was no statistically significant difference about fasting plasma glucose between the two groups(P=0.623).There was a statistically significant difference about fasting insulin between the two groups(P=0.041).Two groups of fasting C-peptide data were statistically different(P=0.037).Glycosylated hemoglobin and glycosylated serum protein data were not statistically different(P=0.595 and 0.265).The two groups of insulin resistance index, insulin sensitivity index were statistically different(P=0.003 and 0.032).However,there was no statistically significant difference in insulin secretion index(P=0.309).Correlation analysis between CDR score with insulin resistance index, insulin sensitivity index and insulin secretion index showed that the Spearman correlation coefficients were0.404,-0.399 and 0.340,and the value of P were equal to 0.027,0.029 and 0.066.Conclusion 1.Fasting insulin, fasting C-peptide,insulin resistance index and insulin sensitivity index between the AD group and control group were all statistically different, indicating that the degree of insulin resistance were statistically different between AD group and control group.Insulin secretion index between the two groups was no significant difference in statistics, indicating there was no significant difference between the two groups of islet secretion;2.The fasting plasma glucose, glycosylated hemoglobin, glycosylated serum protein index of the two groups were no statistically significant, indicating that the two groups of plasma glucose levels and recent changes about plasma glucose status were no difference;3.Do the spearman correlation analysis about the CDR scale and the insulin parameter of Homa Model, the results suggested that: the cognitive impairment of AD with insulin resistance index was positively correlated. The cognitive impairment of AD and insulin sensitivity index was negatively correlated. However, the cognitive impairment of AD had no correlation with insulin secretion index. We concluded that: AD had a relationship with IR,and this relationship was mainly reflected in the sensitivity of the body’s target organs to use insulin and participate in glucose metabolism. There was a positive correlation between the degree of cognitive impairment and insulin resistance in AD patients. |
