Suicide refers to the behavior that the individual intentionally endangers his life under the control of death intention.Suicide is the fifth leading cause of death in China and the highest among adults aged 15 to 35,according to a survey released by the Ministry of Health.Among the young and middle-aged group, the frequent suicide of college students has seriously affected the success of college students, stability and even social harmony. Therefore, this study intends to construct the early warning indicators system of college students’ suicide in order to predict and dynamically monitor the suicide crisis of college students. This paper analyzes the empirical materials of college students’ suicide and death cases by using grounded theory, called the qualitative research paradigm, and sifts out the warning indicators which can warn or indicate that individuals are at risk of suicide.Based on the coding principle of grounded theory, categories of different abstract levels are generated, including 58 subcategories,13 main categories, and 2 core categories, which are used as specific observation indicators and core potential indicators to construct Three-level suicide early warning indicators system. The results not only cover the risk factors of college students’ suicide, such as lovelorn, depression, feeling abandoned and tired of living, but also include the specific behaviors of college students before suicide, such as full of suicide thoughts, threats of death, going to the roof of the dormitory alone, shutting down the mobile phone and so on.Among them, the role of risk factors is to suggest that the person concerned may be in danger of suicide. And the specific behaviors before suicide means that the person concerned is in danger of committing suicide. Therefore, from the above two angles, suicide warning can be used to distinguish college students’ suicide risk information from general information,so as to effectively identify individuals with potential suicide risk and real suicide risk. |
