| Provider-patient communication in health communication often focuses on the"doctor-patient"dual relationship, and emphasizes that doctors and patients need to negotiate and reconcile differences.Mutual understanding and communication between doctors and patients are important conditions for promoting health and preventing diseases. In the special situation of the global pandemic of the COVID-19 epidemic,in the face of a huge number of foreigners in China, different population groups of ethnicity, culture and language put forward unique needs for provider-patient communication. What is more important is how to bridge the gap between cultural differences and information communication. This thesis takes the cross-cultural communication in designated hospitals that intensively treat foreign patients during the COVID-19 epidemic as the research object, and introduces the "multi-mode linkages" theory and "meaning co-creation theory" from strategic communication theory into the analysis of the relationship between multiple subjects in the above practice In the cross-cultural collision of such a global epidemic, the process of meaning generation about diseases, drugs and treatments, and how the multi-linkages in this special situation is involved in the process of meaning co-creation,And through the introduction of parallel narrative analysis methods, try to show the meaning generation of "disease","treatment" and"life experience" by multiple subjects. The study identified a type of "mediating linkages" that was not highlighted in the traditional link model, and explored the multiple roles played by intermediary coordinators represented by "translation experts"," religious figures",and "foreign affairs officials" in cross-cultural provider-patient communication, and emphasized The key role of the "mediating linkages" is to realize the transition from the meaning layer of "Ideological" to the meaning layer of "cultural",supplementing empirical evidence to the "culturally sensitive" health communication model; We also confirms the importance of "diffused linkages".The subject of multiple relationships is involved in the communication field in a specific situation and brings about the expansion of the physical place. The media, the police, the community, and other relationships that would not otherwise appear in provider-patient communication Both will become an important factor affecting provider-patient communication. This thesis discusses the "multi-linkages" and "meaning co-creation" in the context of cross-cultural provider-patient communication, and provides new thinking on the meaning and future research directions of universal provider-patient communication and the communication strategy of "Healthy China" path. |
