Purpose:Since glucocorticoids have been widely used in clinical practice,a large number of treatment-related somatic side effects have been found, however, psychiatric symptoms related to glucocorticoids use have received little attention, and unified principles and standards for treatment have not been established internationally, and most of the existing studies are from clinical case reports. In this article, focusing on application of psychiatric symptoms caused by exogenous glucocorticoid, analyzed by looking up the related literature, this paper main symptom types, cause and mechanism of symptoms, and the corresponding symptoms after treatment, aims to identify the individual risk factors, monitor and manage psychiatric symptoms during glucocorticoid use. Methods:Through PubMed,Web of science,GeenMedical and other major search engines and searchable databases, find the relevant literature and analyzed.Results:Glucocorticoid-related psychiatric symptoms are not uncommon in clinical practice, and the specific mechanism of the symptoms remains to be further studied. At present, the treatment of related psychiatric symptoms usually involves adjusting the dosage of glucocorticoids and adding psychotropic drugs. Conclusion:Glucocorticoid use is associated with a risk of developing psychiatric symptoms that are often overlooked by clinicians. At present,no consistent conclusion has been reached on the mechanism of glucocorticoid-related psychiatric symptoms, but it is suspected that there are many parts, substances and mechanisms involved, and further exploration of relevant mechanisms is of great significance for future treatment and prevention. The symptoms can be reversed by adjusting the dose of glucocorticoids and consulting with psychiatrists and using psychotropic drugs. In addition, psychological education for patients receiving glucocorticoid therapy also plays an important role.
