Objective: The purpose of this study is to determine the clinical efficacy of electroacupuncture "Adjust Zang-fu to Awaken Spirit" on type 2 diabetic cognitive impairment(DCI)patients using baseline data, the cognitive function scale, and biochemical markers. Methods: We did a prospective case-control study.Patients hospitalised to the Affiliated Hospital of Changchun University of Traditional Chinese Medicine,as well as outpatients and members of the general public, were recruited at the same age(20 years),diabetes duration(+20 years),and body weight(+20KG).After evaluating the baseline data, the group was comprised of 70 individuals with type 2 DCI who met the inclusion criteria.Throughout the treatment, all patients maintained their original western medicine hypoglycemic regimen and received electroacupuncture for "regulating viscera and reawakening the psyche." Feishu(bilateral),Pishu(bilateral),Shenshu(bilateral),Baihui,Shenting,Zusanli(bilateral),Sanyinjiao(bilateral),Hegu(bilateral),and Taichong(bilateral)were the acupoints.Operation: the patient takes the sitting position, carries on the routine disinfection to the skin part of the acupuncture point, and cuts the finger into the needle: Baihui Point and shenting point adopt the flat needling method, and the depth of the needle is 0.5 ~ 0.8 inches;Feishu and Pishu adopt oblique needling method, with the depth of 0.5 ~ 0.8 inches;Shenshu and Hegu adopt the direct needling method, and the depth of the needle is 0.5 ~ 1.0 inches;Zusanli and Sanyinjiao adopt the direct needling method, and the depth of the needle is 1.0 ~ 1.5 inches;Taichong adopts the direct needling method, with the needle depth of 0.5 ~ 0.8 inches. After inserting the needle, the needle is manipulated by raising, inserting, and twisting, with the degree of Qi as the reference point; After obtaining Qi,Baihui, and shenting, left Pishu and left Shenshu, left Zusanli, and left Sanyinjiao are electroacupuncture stimulation points for electroacupuncture connection. On the opposite side, the identical connection procedure is used.Electroacupuncture is performed with currents ranging from 0.1 to 1.0m A as far as practicable based on the patient’s comfort and lack of pain;30 minutes / time / D,five times throughout a term of therapy, two days of rest between courses of treatment, and eight courses of continuous intervention.Outcome measures:(1)Montreal Cognitive Assessment Scale(Mo CA);(2)Blood sample indicators include: fasting glucose,etc.Results:1.There was no significant change in basic patient information such as height, weight, and age(P > 0.05).Significant disparities in disease progression and BMI were observed(P < 0.05).2.All 70 cases were included, and the overall efficacy rate was 88 percent(P < 0.05).There were substantial differences between the groups in terms of visual space, attention, and memory(P < 0.05).3.Blood indexes: Before and after treatment, there was a substantial difference in the blood sample indexes of patients in the queue(P < 0.05).4.TCM syndrome score: After therapy, the TCM syndrome score of patients in the waitlist improved dramatically, with significant variations(P < 0.05).Conclusion:1.Electro-acupuncture therapy for "Adjust Zang-fu to Awaken Spirit" can significantly improve cognitive dysfunction and blood sugar and lipid levels in patients with type 2 DCI.2."Adjust Zang-fu to Awaken Spirit" electroacupuncture has a demonstrable clinical effect,no adverse effects, and is simple to use in the treatment of type 2 DCI.It is a highly effective technique with a broad therapeutic application potential.
