Objective:This research evaluated the therapeutic effect of the two groups by comparing the difference of the degree of dysmenorrhea, the improvement of the yang-deficiency constitution and the infrared thermography temperature of the relevant acupoints in the treatment of patients with primary dysmenorrhea of yang deficiency by umbilical moxibustion combined with acupuncture and acupuncture alone. To explore the relationship among the combination of moxibustion and acupuncture, the TCM constitution and the thermodynamic characteristics of acupoints, summarize the treatment advantages of combination of moxibustion and acupuncture, and provide a safe and effective new idea for the treatment of primary dysmenorrhea. Methods:In this study, randomized controlled trial was adopted and 60 patients diagnosed as primary dysmenorrhea of yang-deficiency constitution were divided randomly into two groups.Umbilical moxibustion with acupuncture for the treatment group, and simple acupuncture for the control group. The treatment period was 3 months. The changes of visual analogue scale of pain(VAS)score, the symptom score of dysmenorrhea in traditional Chinese medicine, the score of the Constitution Classification and Judgment Table of Traditional Chinese Medicine and temperature of relevant acupoints were observed and compared. The data were tested by medical statistical software SPSS25.0 to show two groups’clinical efficacy.Results:1.The total effective rate of umbilical moxibustion with acupuncture group was higher than that of acupuncture group, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.01).2.Scale scores:(1)Intra-group comparison:After intervention, the VAS score,TCM dysmenorrhea symptom score, the transformation scores of yang-deficiency constitution in each group decreased, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.01).(2)Inter-group comparison:Compared with control group, the VAS score,TCM dysmenorrhea symptom score, the transformation scores of yangdeficiency constitution in the treatment group decreased significantly(P<0.01,P<0.05).3.Infrared thermography temperature of the relevant acupoints(1)Intra-group comparison:After intervention,in the treatment group, the temperature of relevant acupoints on conception and governor vessels increased. In the control group, except Tiantu(RN22),Shiqizhui(EX-B7)and Dazhui(DU14),the temperature of other acupoints increased. All the difference was statistically significant(P<0.01).(2)Inter-group comparison:Compared with control group, the temperature of acupoints in the treatment group increase more steeply, with statistically significant difference(P<0.05,P<0.01).Conclusion:Both two groups can treat the primary dysmenorrhea of yangdeficiency constitution. However, compared with simple acupuncture, umbilical moxibustion combined with acupuncture can effectively relieve pain, improve the clinical symptoms and biased state of yang-deficiency constitution. The results showed the combination of moxibustion and acupuncture has remarkable treatment effect and obvious advantages. This method has clinical promotion value.
