| Objective:To investigate the effects of mindful occupation on negative emotion regulation, emotion regulation self-efficacy and mindfulness level, relying on reflection as a form of occupation.Methods:70 students who met the inclusion criteria were divided into test group and control group by a random number table method, with 35 students in each group. The control group conducted mindfulness meditation. The instructor played soothing and quiet background music, and guided the students to carry out mindfulness meditation training with mindfulness instruction. The main contents included relaxation training, mindfulness breathing training and mindfulness body scanning training. The students were given 30 minutes twice a week for 4 weeks, for a total of 8 sessions. In the test group,we added mindful occupation reflection to the control group, and selected the content of mindful occupation reflection from the category of “occupation” in the Occupational Therapy Practice Framework. The guideline for mindful occupation reflection was including: Recall a meaningful or purposeful occupation activity that you participated in during this period of time,in this scenario(1)What was the sequence of events(time, place, what you heard, saw and even smelled in this setting, what you were thinking, what you said to the people who were there, and what the people who were there said to you);(2)The emotion or feeling you had at the time, without evaluating how good or bad that emotion or feeling was;(3)The parts of this occupation that you thought you did well and the parts that you expected to do better. The instructor posts the mindful occupation reflection task at the end of the instructional session. The students submit their online mindful occupation reflection on the spot.Twice a week,60 minutes each time, for 4 weeks, for a total of 8 sessions. The Self-rating Anxiety Scale(SAS),the Emotional Regulation Self-efficacy Scale(ERS)and the Mindfu l Attention Awareness Scale(MAAS)were used were use d before and after the intervention to assess the levels of negative emotions, emotion regulation self-efficacy,and mindfulness in the control and test groups. Results:Before the intervention,SAS,ERS and MAAS scores of the two groups were not significant difference in general data(P>0.05)and were comparable. After the intervention, the overall means of SAS and ERS of the two groups of students was improved compared with that before the intervention(P<0.05).The overall means of MAAS and the negative emotion dimension of ERS management in the test group were higher than those in the control group, and the difference between the two groups was statistically significant(P<0.01).Conclusion:Mindful occupation reflection can improve negative emotions, and it has superior effects on improving self-efficacy in managing negative emotions and mindfulness level than only receiving mindfulness meditation. |
