Since the outbreak of the COVID-19 in early 2020,there have been many false negative information in the society, and the public’s anxiety and irritability have been amplified. In this case, the constructive news originated from the European and American news industry has become the focus of attention of some media or scholars at present. It aims to awaken the will of the public to act with inspiring news reports, thus promoting social stability and development. However, the specific practice of constructive news will show different characteristics in different social environments.Based on this, this paper, based on the framework theory, analyzes the content of the high, medium and low levels of the COVID-19 epidemic reported by the People’s Daily of China and the Guardian of the United Kingdom respectively, finds out their respective constructive practice characteristics, and compares the links and differences between their constructive practice characteristics. It is found that in the high-level framework, both media show a tendency to dabble in long-term issues, but there are obvious differences in the spatial orientation of issues and attention to individual actions; In the medium level framework, the People’s Daily pays more attention to positive reports than the Guardian, but it is not as rich and diverse as the Guardian in terms of the choice of reporting forms and sources; From the perspective of low-level framework,People’s Daily can give the public a positive emotional experience in the news title, and at the same time show the solution to the problem through the lead.Through the comparative analysis of the characteristics of the constructive reporting framework of the People’s Daily and the Guardian,we can see the potential problems of the People’s Daily, and put forward some measures to improve the agenda setting, reporting form and text orientation. At the same time,it also provides some thoughts and references for the realistic orientation of the localization practice of constructive news. |
