| ObjectiveTo compare the application of lightweight polypropylene mesh and self-adhesive mesh in Lichtenstein hernia repair,so as to provide a reasonable scheme for the selection of mesh in clinical patients.Secondly,by comparing the efficacy of the two kinds of mesh in Lichtenstein hernia repair,so as to have a deeper understanding of postoperative pain, seroma, mesh infection, hernia recurrence and other complications,so as to promote the rapid recovery of patients and reduce the economic and life pressure of patients.MethodsDuring the period from January to March 2021,a total of 60 male patients with unilateral inguinal hernia in the Department of Gastrointestinal Surgery of the second hospital of Jilin University were selected and randomized into the lightweight polypropylene mesh group(Group A,n=30)and the self-adhesive mesh group(Group B,n=30).A tension-free repair using the Lichtenstein technique was performed on all patients. The average operating time, postoperative hospital stays, seroma, infection related to mesh, postoperative pain, hernia recurrence, foreign body sensation and hospital cost were compared between the two groups.ResultsThere was a significant difference in average operating time between the two groups of patients(p=0.0014).The difference in hospital cost between the two groups was statistically significant(p < 0.001),and there was no difference in hernia recurrence or other morbidities such as recent postoperative pain(7 days and 1 month after the operation),chronic pain, seroma, mesh infection and foreign body sensation(p>0.05).ConclusionsThere were less average operating time but more curative cost in self-adhesive mesh group. And there was no difference in hernia recurrence or other morbidities such as recent or chronic pain. |
