Objective:By observing the recovery of gastrointestinal function and pain in patients after abdominal surgery under general anaesthesia, and analysing the differences in efficacy between the use of exhaust suppository and the timed drug administration, the scientific validity and effectiveness of exhaust suppository and the timed drug administration based on the traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)time medicine theory were evaluated, providing new ideas for clinical promotion of recovery of gastrointestinal function after abdominal surgery under general anaesthesia, and providing clinical experience for future related studies. Methods:A total of 90 patients who were admitted to the Second Department of Surgery of the First Affiliated Hospital of Heilongjiang University of Chinese Medicine and underwent elective abdominal surgery under general anaesthesia and laparoscopy between December 2021 and December 2022 were selected according to the inclusion and exclusion criteria, and were randomly divided into the timed treatment group, the general treatment group and the control group, with 30 patients in each group. In the control group, the patients were given regular treatment such as rehydration and anti-infection after surgery;in the general treatment group, exhaust suppository was given at 24 hours after surgery on the basis of regular treatment, and then given every 24 hours until the patients resumed normal defecation;the timed treatment group, exhaust suppository was given at the first period of the day from 7 a.m.to 9 a.m.after surgery on the basis of regular treatment, and then given once at each the period of the day from 7 a.m.to 9 a.m.after surgery until the patients resumed normal defecation. The patients’ general data such as gender, age,BMI,underlying diseases and surgery-related conditions were statistically analysed, and the time to recovery of bowel sounds, time to first exhaust, time to first defecation, pain score at 72 hours after surgery and the efficacy of the three groups were compared to observe the effectiveness and safety of exhaust suppository and the timed drug administration.Results:1.The differences between the three groups were not statistically significant in terms of gender, age,BMI,underlying disease and surgical condition(P > 0.05)and were comparable at baseline.2.Comparing the time to recovery of bowel sounds, time to first exhaust, time to first defecation in the three groups, the difference was statistically significant(P < 0.05).In a two-by-two comparison between the groups, the time to recovery of gastrointestinal function in the patients in the timed treatment group was less than that in the general treatment group and the control group(P < 0.05),and the time to recovery in the patients in the general treatment group was less than that in the control group(P < 0.05),and the difference was statistically significant.3.At 72 hours after surgery, the pain scores of patients in all three groups were lower than those before treatment(P < 0.05),and the difference was statistically significant. There was a statistically significant difference in pain scores between the three groups at 72 hours postoperatively(P < 0.05).In a two-by-two comparison between the groups, the pain scores of the patients in the timed treatment group and the general treatment group were smaller than those of the control group(P < 0.05),and the difference was statistically significant, but there was no statistically significant difference between the timed treatment group and the general treatment group(P >0.05).4.The total effective cases were 28 in the timed treatment group with a total effective rate of 93.33%,26 in the general treatment group with a total effective rate of 86.67% and 23 in the control group with a total effective rate of 76.67%.The differences were statistically significant when comparing the efficacy of the three groups(P < 0.05).There were no serious adverse reactions or postoperative complications during the treatment period in any of the three groups.Conclusion:1.Exhaust suppository can effectively shorten the time to recovery of bowel sounds, time to first exhaust, time to first defecation in patients after abdominal surgery under general anaesthesia, promote the recovery of gastrointestinal function, reduce the patients’ postoperative pain score and relieve their postoperative pain without adverse reactions, and is safe and effective.2.The timed treatment group outperformed the general treatment group and the control group in promoting the recovery of gastrointestinal function and comprehensive efficacy of the patients after abdominal surgery under general anaesthesia, indicating that the timed drug administration based on the TCM time medicine has certain scientific validity and effectiveness, the specific mechanism of which needs to be further investigated.
