Analysis Of Related Factors Of Fungal Ball Maxillary Sinusitis

Objective:To investigate the related factors of fungal ball maxillary sinusitis.Methods:A retrospective analysis was performed on 75 patients with fungal ball maxillary sinusitis including 30 males and 45 females,aged 27-83(54.3±13.0)years,who underwent surgical treatment in the Department of Otolaryngology,the First Affiliated Hospital of Bengbu Medical College from September 2019 to December2021 and confirmed by postoperative pathology,and 75 patients with chronic maxillary sinusitis,including 49 males and 26 females,aged 15-83(43.6.3±17.0)years,who were treated in our department during the same period were selected.CMS patients were selected as the control group.The clinical data(age,gender,smoking,drinking,hypertension,asthma,maxillary dental surgery history)of patients and anatomical variation of nasal cavity and sinuses(nasal septum deviation,vesicular middle turbinate,inverted middle turbinate,Haller air chamber,unate process hypertrophy,unate process deviation,and sieve bubble hyper gasification)were included for univariate analysis,and the factors with P<0.05 were further analyzed by multivariate Logistic regression.Results:Univariate analysis showed that age,sex,hypertension,diabetes,maxillary dental surgery history,vesicular middle turbinate,retraction of middle turbinate and unate process deviation were the influencing factors for the onset of fungal ball maxillary sinusitis.The difference was statistically significant(t=4.32,X~2=9.65,4.06,4.88,4.04,4.65,6.00,4.00,all P values<0.05).Multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that age(OR=4.889,95%CI=2.025～11.800)female(OR=2.311,95%CI=1.016～5.256),vesicular middle turbinate(OR=3.404,95%CI=1.182～9.806),inverted middle turbinate(OR=9.080,95%CI=2.013～40.958)and maxillary tooth operation history(OR=4.382,95%CI=1.216～15.783)were independent risk factors for fungal ball maxillary sinusitis.Conclusion:Middle-aged and elderly,female,combinedmaxillary dental surgery history,middle turbinate abnormalities are independent risk factors for fungal ball maxillary sinusitis,the early clinical diagnosis should pay attention to the above factors.
