A Correlation Between Uric Acid Levels And The Occurrence Of Atrial Fibrillation In Patients With Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus

Objective: To investigate the correlation between uric acid level and the occurrence of atrial fibrillation in patients with type 2 diabetes.Methods: Type 2 diabetic patients admitted to People’s Hospital of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region from October202020 to July 2021,A total of 499 study subjects meeting the inclusion and exclusion criteria were included,Among them,52 patients were complicated with atrial fibrillation,447 patients without atrial AF,Age,sex,physical mass index(BMI),history of hypertension,smoking,height,weight,alcohol consumption,duration of diabetes,insulin,The use of hypoglycemic and antihypertensive drugs,β Blockers,lipid-lowering drug use,Serum uric acid(SUA),Neutrophils(N),white blood cell count(WBC),lymphocytes(L),neutrophil / lymphocyte ratio(NLR),low density lipoprotein(LDL),triglycerides(TG),liver function,glycosylated hemoglobin(Hb A1c),blood creatinine(Cr),Left ventricular posterior wall thickness(LVPWT),Left ventricular ejection fraction(LVEF),total cholesterol(TC),left ventricular septal thickness(IVST),Left ventricular end diastolic diameter(LVEDD),left atrial diameter(LAD).Risk factors for the development of AF were analyzed by binary Logistics regression.The relationship between SUA levels and LAD was analyzed by correlation.ROC curve analysis of the predictive value of SUA levels for the development of AF in patients with type 2 diabetes.Results: The results compared the general data,biochemical indexes and cardiac ultrasound results between the combined AF group and non-AF group.The results showed that age,history of hypertension,ACEI drugs,NLR,LDL,Hb A1 c,AST,Cr,TC,TG,SUA,LVEDD,LAD,LVPWT were statistically different between the two groups(P<0.05).Binary Logistic regression analysis of risk factors for AF showed that LAD and hyperuricemia(HUA)were independent risk factors for AF.Correlation: analysis of the correlation between uric acid level and left atrial diameter,the results showed a linear positive correlation(r=0.167,P<0.001),controlling for other confounding factors,and the two were still correlated.According to the ROC curve analysis,SUA had a predictive value for the development of atrial fibrillation,with a cutoff value of 356.5umol/L,a sensitivity of50.0%,and a specificity of 75.8%.Conclusion: 1.HUA,LAD is an independent risk factor for the development of AF and deserves clinical attention.2.SUA showed a linearly positive correlation with LAD.3 SUA has a predictive value in the development of AF.
