Objective:To observe the comparison of visual quality between monocular and binocular cataract patients after implantation of Symfony intraocular lens,so as to provide reference for clinical selection of intraocular lens. Methods: A total of 50 patients with100 eyes who underwent phacoemulsification combined with IOL implantation in our hospital in 2020-10/2022-8 were divided into 2 groups according to the different types of IOL implanted,25 patients with 50 eyes were implanted with Symfony IOL in both eyes as the binocular group,25 patients with 50 eyes had previously implanted aspheric monofocal IOL in one eye,and Symfony IOL in the other eye was implanted in the monocular group.Follow-up was carried out 3 months after surgery, and the main observation indicators were far, middle and near naked eye vision in both eyes, the rate of lens removal in the near and far, middle and near eyes, and the incidence of optical interference..Results: At 3 months after surgery, there was no difference in naked eye distance vision(UDVA)and best corrected visual acuity(BCVA)between the monocular group and the monocular IOL implanted eyes(P>0.05).There was no statistically significant difference in binocular naked distance visual acuity(UDVA),naked distance visual acuity(UIVA),naked near visual acuity(UNVA),and best corrected visual acuity(BCVA)between patients with single eye and double eye implantation of Symfony IOL 3months after surgery(P>0.05).There was no statistically significant difference between the binocular group and the monocular group in distal, middle, and proximal detachment(P>0.05).There was no statistically significant difference in the incidence of visual interference phenomena such as glare, halo, starlight, and ghosting between the monocular group and the binocular group after cataract surgery.Comparison of the two groups’ postoperative binocular defocus curve measurements showed that the binocular group had a smoother distance to near distance curve, while the binocular group and monocular group showed a steep downward trend after-1.0D,while the binocular group had a relatively flat downward trend compared to the monocular group. The visual acuity of both groups was greater than 0.6 at 0D--2.5(5m to 40cm).Conclusion: Both Symfony IOL implantation and monocular implantation Symfony IOL can provide patients with better full-course vision of far, medium and near, and the postoperative distal, middle and near lens removal rates are high.Symfony IOL may be an option for patients who have previously had monofocal IOL implanted in one eye and require a functional lens in a second eye.
