| Objective: Cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases have climbed to the first Place of death and Premature death in China.Insulin resistance(IR)is thought as one of the most significiant risk factors for the development of cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases. The Ty G index is proposed as a proxy for IR,which performs better than IR steady state model assessment(HOMA-IR)and can be used as a simple assessment of insulin resistance in less developed areas. Some studies have said that the Ty G index is closely associated with cardiovascular risk such as stroke and myocardial infarction. To date, few relevant studies in China have focused on the impact of Ty G index on stroke and myocardial infarction disease. This study aimed to specifically investigate whether the Ty G index showed a significant association with stroke and myocardial infarction disease. Methods: The data are derived from a cohort study conducted in rural northeast China, and in 2012,using random stratified cluster sampling,11,956 participants were recruited in Liaoning province,a total of 11,863 individuals were included and93 individuals were excluded in this study.Among them,1,236 people had stroke and myocardial infarction. The Ty G index was obtained as ln(fasting triglyceride level[mg/dl] fasting glucose level [mg/dl]/2).Bilateral logistic regression analysis was used to explore the correlation with stroke and myocardial infarction disease in the Ty G index.Results:1.Higher Ty G index was positively associated with the prevalence of stroke and myocardial infarction(OR=1.52,95%CI:1.37-1.69;P <0.001).2.participants with the fourth quartile had the greatest probability of stroke and myocardial infarction compared with those in the first quantile of the Ty G index,(OR = 1.93,95%CI:1.60-2.31;P <0.001).3.ROC analysis showed that the optimal cut value of Ty G index for Predicting stroke and myocardial infarction was 8.78,and the area under the curve(AUC)was 0.578(95% confidence interval: 0.558-0.598,P <0.001).Conclusion:1.The role of Ty G index in people affected by stroke and myocardial infarction: This study found that the rate of stroke and myocardial infarction also increased with the increasing quartile of Ty G index.2.By analyzing the population of stroke and myocardial infarction in 2012,we found that compared with the first quartile of Ty G index, the prevalence of stroke and myocardial infarction increased significantly in the fourth quantile of Ty G index. This study found that subjects with high Ty G index were more likely to have stroke and myocardial infarction.3.In this study,we found that the risk of stroke and myocardial infarction was increased under the influence of gender(male or female),high uric acid, hypertension, hyperglycemia and high triglycerides. |
