Objective: To investigate the relationship between S100 B level and Atherosclerosis(AS)in patients with Type 2 diabetes mellitus(T2DM).Methods: A total of 116 patients with T2 DM who were hospitalized in the Fourth Affiliated Hospital of China Medical University from September 2021 to December 2021 and 32 healthy patients who underwent physical examination in outpatient department were selected.Basic data and biochemical indicators of the patients were collected, and all patients underwent routine carotid ultrasound examination.According to the results of carotid ultrasound, the subjects were divided into four groups: healthy control group, simple T2 DM group,T2 DM combined with arterial intima thickening group, and T2 DM combined with AS group.Serum S100 B levels were detected by ELISA.he differences of basic data, biochemical indexes and serum S100 B among the four groups were compared.Logistic regression was used to analyze the relationship between the indexes and T2 DM combined with AS,and receiver operating curve(ROC curve)was used to test the efficacy of serum S100 B in diagnosing T2 DM combined with AS.Results: 1.Compared with baseline data, there were no significant differences in gender, course of disease, age, and serum creatinine among the four groups(P>0.05);There were differences in fasting blood glucose, body mass index, glycosylated hemoglobin,0 fraction C-peptide,0 min insulin, total cholesterol, low density lipoprotein, triglyceride, high density lipoprotein, aspartate aminotransferase, alanine aminotransferase,C-reactive protein, uric acid and S100 B protein among groups(P < 0.05).Further pin-to-pair comparison showed that S100 B,glycosylated hemoglobin, low density lipoprotein and Creactive protein had statistical differences between any two groups(P < 0.05),and gradually increased among the four groups, the lowest in healthy control group and the highest in T2 DM combined with AS group.2.Logistic regression analysis showed that high serum S100 B protein was an independent risk factor for T2 DM with AS(P<0.05).3.ROC curve results showed that the AUC of serum S100 B in diagnosing T2 DM with AS was0.982,the sensitivity was 9.49%,and the specificity was 91.9%(P<0.05).Conclusion: S100 B is correlated with T2 DM complicated with AS,and serum S100 B is an independent risk factor for T2 DM complicated with AS.
