Analysis On Status And Influencing Factors Of Awareness Of Stroke Common Symptoms And Utilization Of Emergency Medical Services For Urban And Rural Residents Aged 40 And Elder In 2 Cities, Liaoning

Objective: Nowadays,the deficiency in the rapid identification of common symptoms of stroke and the utilization of Emergency Medical Services(EMS)among urban and rural residents are still the crucial reasons for the severe pre-hospital delay against the treatment of stroke in China.The objectives of this study are to reveal the status and influencing factors of awareness of stroke common symptoms and utilization of EMS for urban and rural residents aged 40 and elder both in Shenyang and Benxi,Liaoning.Methods: From January to December 2021,one community was selected from each of the urban and rural areas both in Shenyang and Benxi,and a total of 8 104 permanent residents aged 40 and elder were included from the four communities with stratified cluster random sampling.Results: Urban and rural residents both in Shenyang and Benxi had the highest total awareness rate of the symptom "sudden numbness or weakness of the face or limbs(especially unilateral)"(83.45%),and the lowest total awareness rate of the symptom "unexplained visual impairment"(16.88%).The total rates of recognizing all five stroke common symptoms and utilizing EMS were 10.91% and 45.77%,respectively.Only4.05% of urban and rural residents are aware of all five stroke common symptoms as well as utilize the EMS.The results of multivariate logistic regression showed that living in rural areas,higher age,lower education level and higher annual family income were risk factors for recognizing all five stroke common symptoms as well as utilize the EMS.Conclusions: The awareness of stroke common symptoms for urban and rural residents aged 40 years and elder both in Shenyang and Benxi,Liaoning is low,meanwhile the utilization of the EMS needs to be improved.
