| Objective:The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of Edaravone injection on neurological recovery and prognosis in ischemic stroke,as well as the occurrence of adverse reactions,in order to obtain more accurate clinical evidence. Methods:A randomized controlled trial, with retrieval time extending to December 2022 and a range of databases, such as The Cochrane Library,Pub Med,Scopus,Clinical trials.gov,Web of Science and Embase, were consulted to explore the literature on Edaravone injection in patients with ischemic stroke. Two researchers then extracted data that met the criteria and evaluated the potential for bias.To analyze the literature,Rev Man 5.4software was utilized. The effective outcome indicators were clinical efficacy, neurological function, recovery of life ability,mortality,long-term prognosis of neurological function, and the safe outcome indicators were severe or intolerable adverse reactions in the course of treatment. Results:In this study,11 randomized controlled trials that fulfilled the criteria were procured and incorporated.A total of 2473 patients were enrolled, among which 1644 patients received Edaravone injection and conventional clinical therapy for cerebral infarction and were included in the experimental group, and 829 patients only received conventional clinical therapy for cerebral infarction or received conventional clinical therapy plus placebo and were included in the control group. An analysis of efficacy revealed that,in comparison to the control group,Edaravone injection could enhance the clinical effectiveness of ischemic stroke [RR = 1.21,95%CI(1.11,1.33),P<0.0001],and significantly reduce neurological impairment [MD =-4.06,95%CI(-5.86,-2.25).P<0.0001],improved ability of daily living [MD = 22.77,95%CI(18.29,27.24),P<0.0001],reduced mortality [RR = 0.55,95%CI(0.43,0.70),P<0.0001],and improved long-term recovery of neurological function [RR = 1.39,95% CI(1.18,1.64),P<0.001].No adverse reactions were found in Edaravone group [RR=0.81,95%CI(0.48,1.38),P=0.44].Conclusion:Edaravone injection can significantly improve the recovery and prognosis of impaired neurological function in patients with ischemic stroke, including increasing the total treatment response rate, improving neurological function impairment, improving patients’ living standards, reducing mortality, and improving long-term neurological function prognosis with high safety.Verification of this conclusion necessitates the utilization of a large sample size, randomized controlled,high-level clinical trials and data over an extended period. |
