With the continuous development of medical technology and the increasing public demand for the quality of medical services,patients’ requirements for doctors’ professionalism and humanistic care are also getting higher and higher.In this context,narrative medicine,as an emerging way of practising medical humanities,has gradually received widespread attention from the medical profession and the medical education sector.Narrative therapy emphasises putting the patient’s story at the centre of medical practice,helping doctors better communicate and collaborate with patients through listening,understanding and empathy,and improving the quality and effectiveness of medical services.After completing the preliminary data collection through literature research,questionnaires and interviews,this study elaborates on the connotation and value of narrative medicine and its education,explores the inspiration of narrative medicine education in four medical schools in China and the United States,then researches seven higher medical universities in Hebei Province to understand multiple suggestions and finally proposes optimised countermeasures.This study divides into four chapters.The first chapter discusses the connotation and significance of narrative medicine and narrative medicine education in multiple dimensions,summarises and sorts out its theory,evolution history,and integration with other disciplines,and explores its practical significance at various levels;The second chapter is an overview of the development of narrative medical education in China and the United States,with four excellent medical schools in China and the United States as case studies,and a multi-faceted discussion of their implications for the development of narrative medical education in China.The third chapter investigates the effect of narrative medicine education in higher medical schools in Hebei Province.By analysing students,teachers,medical staff,etc.,in different medical colleges and universities in the province,we can understand their cognition of narrative medicine and its education,existing problems,and follow-up optimisation suggestions.The fourth chapter studies the optimisation strategies of narrative medicine education in Hebei’s higher medical schools.On the one hand,the educational experience of the above Chinese and American universities can use as a reference for Hebei Province.On the other hand,given the current problems of narrative medicine education in Hebei Province,measures and suggestions are put forward to improve the construction of the discipline,establish a demand-oriented teaching mode,focus on linking theory to practice,strengthen the structure of teachers and promote the reform of narrative teaching.By proposing specific optimisation measures and improvements from the perspectives of curriculum development,teaching methods and evaluation of teaching effectiveness,this study aims to promote the development of narrative medicine education in Hebei universities.
