| Objective: To investigate whether red blood cell distribution width-coefficient of variation(RDW-CV)is different among healthy people,pre-hypertension people and hypertension patients, and to explore its correlation. And to analyze whether RDW-CV was predictive of hypertension in patients with pre-hypertension.Methods: A total of 313 eligible subjects admitted to Hebei general hospital from January1,2021 to January31,2022 were retrospectively analyzed and divided into 3 groups according to their blood pressure at the time of registration. The healthy control group(n=84)had a blood pressure<120/80 mm Hg.pre-hypertension group(n=100),blood pressure120-139/80-89 mm Hg;Hypertension group(n=129),blood pressure≥140/90 mm Hg.Participants’ gender, age, height, weight, body mass index(BMI),systolic blood pressure, diastolic blood pressure and heart rate at visit were recorded.Participants’ blood routine, urea nitrogen, creatinine, uric acid, sedimentation rate, low density lipoprotein cholesterol,(LDL-C),high density lipoprotein cholesterol(HDL-C)and triglyceride were also recorded.Analysis of Covariance(ANCOVA)was used to calculate the RDW-CV of the participants in the above groups,LSD-t multiple comparison was used to test the differences between the groups,Pearson correlation coefficient and Spearman correlation coefficient were used to test the univariate correlation of RDW-CV.Disordered multiple logistic regression was used to analyze the influencing factors of blood pressure.Receiver operating characteristic(ROC)curve was used to analyze the predictive value of RDW-CV for hypertension in patients with pre-hypertension.Results: 1.After the statistical analysis of the general data and related blood indexes of the control group,pre-hypertension group and the hypertension group,RDW-CV of the three groups were significantly different(P<0.05).2.After adjusting for age, hemoglobin level, anemia, white blood cell count(WBC),serum uric acid level, erythrocyte sedimentation rate, and mean white blood cell volume(MCV),multiple comparisons indicated significant differences in mean RDW-CV between control group,pre-hypertension group, and hypertension group(P<0.05).3.The results of correlation analysis indicated that RDW-CV was positively correlated with systolic blood pressure and diastolic blood pressure(r=0.535 and r=0.467,P<0.001).4.Disordered multiple logistic regression indicated that age,BMI and RDW-CV were independent risk factors for pre-hypertension and hypertension in healthy group as control group(all P<0.05).5.The ROC curve showed that the area under the curve of RDW-CV was 0.689(95%CI: 0.621~0.757),indicating that RDW-CV had significant predictive value for hypertension in people with pre-hypertension.Conclusions: 1.RDW-CV was higher in people with pre-hypertension and hypertension compared with healthy controls.2.After adjusting for age, anemia status, and obesity,RDW-CV was still strongly associated with higher systolic and diastolic blood pressure.3.Compared with the control group(healthy population),RDW-CV were independent risk factors for pre-hypertension and hypertension.4.RDW-CV was predictive of hypertension in patients with high normal blood pressure. |
