Dendrobium is a traditional precious medicinal herb in China. With the continuous development and expansion of the Chinese medicine market, the demand for medicinal Dendrobium is increasing.Currently, there are about 50 kinds of medicinal Dendrobium in circulation on the market.Due to excessive development, the wild Dendrobium resources are on the brink of depletion. And the lack of comprehensive identification methods led to multiple plant varieties similar to Dendrobium mixed in its commodity circulation, causing many negative impacts on the medicinal safety and efficacy of Dendrobium. Therefore, the study and comparison of the high active ingredient content in Dendrobium plants can provide a basis for the cultivation technology, quality identification, quality control, medicinal safety, and new product development of medicinal Dendrobium. This study conducted qualitative and quantitative studies on the highly active components of dendrobine, naringin, dibenzyl compounds, and free amino acids in 12 introduced and cultivated Dendrobium varieties. The main results are as follows:(1)The content of dendrobine in 12 Dendrobium varieties was determined and compared using Gas Chromatography Mass Spectrometer(GC-MS).Dendrobine was only detected in D.Nobile(7.28 mg/g),D.Officinale(0.24 mg/g),D.Huoshanense(1.23 mg/g),D.Tosaense(0.62 mg/g)and D.Primulinum(1.78 mg/g).The concentration of dendrobine in D.Officinale was lower than the linear range, and no dendrobine was detected in other Dendrobium samples.(2)High Performance Liquid Chromatography(HPLC)was used to detect and compare the content of naringin in 12 Dendrobium cultivars. And naringin was detected only in D.Nobile(0.085 mg/g)and D.Officinale(0.150 mg/g),and the concentration was lower than the linear range. No naringin was detected in other Dendrobium samples.(3)The content of total bibenzyl compounds in 12 Dendrobium cultivars was determined and compared using an Ultraviolet Spectrophotometer(UV).All Dendrobium samples contain bibenzyl compounds, among which the content of total dibenzyl compounds in D.Chrysotoxum is the highest(2.11 mg/g),which can be used as a quality control indicator. The concentrations of benzyl compounds detected in D.Fimbriatum,D.Crepidatum,D.Moschatum,D.Williamsonii,D.Thyrsiflorum and Flickingeria Comata were lower than the linear range.(4)The UV method was used to detect and compare the total free amino acid content in 12 Dendrobium cultivars.D.Officinale has the highest free amino acid content(3.292 mg/g),followed by D.Chrysotoxum(2.177 mg/g).The total free amino acid concentrations in D.Fimbriatum,D.Crepidatum,D.Moschatum,D.Williamsonii,D.Thyrsiflorum and Flickingeria Comata are below the linear range...
