| This thesis takes Margarita,the heroine of the 20th century Russian writer,Mikhail Bulgakov’s masterpiece The Master and Margarita,as the research target.It focuses on the text itself,and takes her relationship with other roles as the main breakthrough point to analyze her characterization comprehensively.The introduction briefly reviews the research status of The Master and Margarita at home and abroad.The main research perspectives are biography,religion,mythology and structuralism.As for analysis of Margarita’s characterization,it mainly focuses on pedigree studies based on religion and mythology.At first,the thesis explores the system of parallels between Margarita with other characters and her main image features,purity and maternity.Then it focuses on the special relationship between Margarita and the Master:The parallel system of "the baby-manuscripts-parchment" is introduced,and then the equal place of Margarita and the Master in the creation of cultural products is pointed out;Through the in-depth analysis of Margarita and Master’s parallel character relationships,it proves that they are soul mate and in essence,an inseparable whole bearing Russian temperament.The innovation of this thesis lies in accepting and discussing deeply multiple parallel systems of the hero and heroine,all of which have sufficient detail support and profound thematic significance.It originally points out that Pilate has a correspondence relationship both with Margarita and the Master,and that the "rose" plays an important role in connecting different space-time.At last it explores the unique narrative techniques,which is influenced by the author’s personal experience and creative intentions,used to portray Margarita’s features and her guiding role to readers in narrative progress.Those techniques include the switch of narrative perspectives and the use of fairy-tale elements,etc.This part further illustrates the significance of Margarita from structural aspect.Russia is a highly united nation.Russians value the interaction among men and care about the collective destiny.In Margarita’s connection with other characters,her image of purity,maternity and courage as well as her special relationship with the Master is highlighted. |
