“Trauma” In Yu Miri’s Literature,A Korean Writer In Japan | | Posted on:2021-01-19 | Degree:Master | Type:Thesis | | Country:China | Candidate:X Z Liang | Full Text:PDF | | GTID:2545306500970799 | Subject:Japanese Language and Literature | | Abstract/Summary: | PDF Full Text Request | | Yu Miri(1968-)was born in Kanagawa,Japan.As a Korean in Japan,she won the Akutagawa Literature Award at the age of 29.There have been various traumas in Yu Miri’s works,it can be said that this is the source of Yu Miri’s literary creation.This paper uses Yu Miri’s works as analysis texts,uses trauma theory and Elleke Boehmer’s post-colonial literature theory to analyze the trauma in Yu Miri’s works and the causes of its formation,and discusses her attitude towards language and identity.This paper is divided into three chapters.The first chapter analyzes her family relationship,and investigates her trauma caused by family with trauma theory.Yu Miri’s works show that her father is very violent,her mother gave up family responsibilities.The physical and sexual abuse encountered in childhood caused her fear of socializing.The unfortunate family environment makes her full of mistrust of blood relationship and marriage system,and she believes that each other’s mutual needs are most important,thus forming a new family concept based on this.In addition,this chapter uses Family Secret as analysis texts,examines the unfortunate childhood experiences of her parents,and confirms the intergenerational inheritance of trauma in her family.The second chapter analyzes her ambivalence about language and her attitude change to Korean and the reason based on post-colonial literature theory.Living in Japan which was once a colonial power inevitably caused her sense of inferiority towards Korean culture.Her parents quarreled in Korean when she was young,and she did not want to learn her mother tongue as a foreign language,which made her keep a distance from Korean.Her attitude change towards Korean,came from her buried inner feelings for the motherland and the desire to communicate with her compatriots.The third chapter,examines identity issues and the changes of Yu Miri’s work.The xenophobic policies and the differentiated treatment from Japanese society,and the split of the motherland are shaking up the identity of the Korean in Japan.For Yu Miri,The experience of visiting North Korea has inspired her consciousness of the compatriots.On the contrary,the lack of freedom and inequality in Japanese society made her lack a sense of belonging to Japan.Finally,analyzes the thematic changes after The End of August.In the works after this,Yu Miri paid attention to issues such as the colonized history of Korea and the history of Korean national division,and the xenophobia of Japanese society.Such contents rarely appeared in her previous works,and there were no works created on this main line.That is,while retaining the themes of family,Yu Miri is moving towards a new theme of colonization and national history.As a writer with a special identity,the analysis of the trauma in Yu Miri’s works not only helps us understand her works,but also provides a glimpse into the trauma of the Korean in Japan--identity issues. | | Keywords/Search Tags: | Yu Miri, Trauma, Family, Language, Identity | PDF Full Text Request | Related items |
