From 1937 to 1949,Kunming private middle school,as a new product of Modern Yunnan secondary education,rose rapidly during the war of resistance against Japan,but slowly declined during the war of liberation.It was not only a highlight of the development of Yunnan Education at that time,but also an epitome of the difficult and tortuous development of Yunnan Education in the war.During this period,affected by the war and the transformation of Yunnan’s status in the country,Kunming private middle schools achieved great development,and the school running quality was generally high,which made up for the lack of the development of public middle schools and trained a large number of talents for the country.It can be said that the spring breeze turned into rain and educated talents,made great contributions to the development of Yunnan Education during the period of the Republic of China,and provided useful experience and Enlightenment for today’s school running.However,it should be pointed out that its school running still has certain limitations,such as shortage of funds,lack of teaching equipment,unstable teaching quality,large mobility of teachers and students and other problems,which hinder it from giving full play to its historical role.Based on historical facts,this paper combs the development process of Kunming private middle schools from 1937 to 1949,introduces the management and school running practice of the government of the Republic of China on Kunming private middle schools,evaluates the school running quality of Kunming private middle schools,summarizes their school running achievements and shortcomings,and learns from the past to the present.
