Heritage paper is subject to damage over time, either from the natural environment or from human factors, leading to the ageing and deterioration of heritage paper.Acidity, temperature and humidity, light, harmful gases, biological factors, etc.will accelerate the ageing of paper to varying degrees,so to better protect heritage paper we must clarify the factors on the destruction mechanism of heritage paper, the degree of impact is less important, and attempt to research the applicability of paper reinforcement materials for heritage, the main research work is as follows.(1)research on the damage mechanism of paper used for cultural relics.Through orthogonal tests on seventeen types of paper commonly used in modern archival relics and repair materials for paper relics, simulated ageing experiments with different factors and different degrees were conducted to observe the phenomenon and degree of destruction of paper used for relics through various technical indicators, and to quantitatively analyse what factors account for the highest proportion of factors influencing the destruction of paper used for relics.(2)Construct an evaluation system for the weighting of environmental factors affecting the destruction of heritage paper.Analyse the data and fit the correlation function.Origin software was used to analyse the data measured in the orthogonal test, derive a multivariate correlation heat map,fit the function, obtain a certain pattern of universal experience affecting the aging damage mechanism of paper relics, and construct an evaluation system for the weight of environmental factors affecting the destruction of paper relics.(3)Research on the applicability of deacidification materials and reinforcement materials for paper used in cultural relics.Through experiments, the effect of calcium hydroxide on delaying the acidification of paper was verified;the hydrophobic modification of oxidised carboxylated cellulose nanofibres was carried out by physical adsorption using the adsorption method of octadecyltrimethylammonium chloride, and then the modified nanocellulose was made into a gum solution and coated on various types of heritage paper, and the various mechanical properties of the reinforced heritage paper were measured, and then the mechanical properties of the reinforced and re-aged heritage paper were measured. The change in mechanical properties of the reinforced paper was then measured. The tests show that the modified nanocellulose is reinforcing, waterproof and resistant to ageing. The data from this two-step procedure was validated in an evaluation system for the impact weighting of environmental factors on heritage paper, which proved to be reliable.
