| Real life has always been an essential material for artists to create oil paintings. However,in the pre-modern society, only the aristocratic class can get access to oil paintings, and the depiction of life in the paintings is more inclined to highlight their own identity and status.Today, this phenomenon has been entirely shifted.Under the influence of mainstream culture, artists pay more attention to their own life feelings when creating, rather than being affected by factors such as fame, fortune and status.Through studying the inability of contemporary Chinese and western oil paintings to separate from life, this paper hopes to urge the contemporary artists to face up to the influence of life on painting creation, thus inspiring them to create excellent works.Although there has always been a strong relationship between painting creation and life, few researches specifically study whether the relationship between them has shifted. This paper uses literature research, work analysis and other research methods to analyze daily life narratives in contemporary Chinese and western paintings, and demonstrates the research content in the context of mainstream culture and the trends presented.Combined with the author’s personal experience of creation, this paper also explores the dilemmas and breakthroughs in future daily life and painting creation. This paper is divided into four chapters. The second chapter briefly analyzes the overall development trend of contemporary Chinese and western oil paintings, and presents the subversion of traditional paintings. The third chapter investigates the relationship between daily life and painting creation of representative Chinese and western artists. It finds that the attitudes of artists towards daily life are the same, although the painting styles of daily life narration in contemporary Chinese and western paintings are different. In the meantime, the society has begun to turn from modernization to aestheticization,so British scholars have put forward the aestheticization of daily life.Against this background, contemporary Chinese and western artists no longer oppose the ideal in the transcendental world with the real life, and attach more importance to the scattered and ordinary daily life. The fourth chapter analyzes in detail how the Chinese and western oil painting creation and daily life have changed from "no relationship" to "inability to be separated" in recent times.Although they have gone through different transformation processes, they all ultimately show the return to daily life.Furthermore, from the perspective of Chinese and western traditional philosophy,it considers the significance of the existence of daily life, and finds the viewpoints of daily life in modern philosophy-using art to address the monotony and mediocrity of daily life. Finally,it proves the key point of this paper: the inability of contemporary painting to separate from life. While daily life is crucial to oil painting,it has some drawbacks. The fifth chapter dialectically analyzes the dilemmas and breakthroughs of daily life narration in contemporary oil painting creation.Artists’ repeated reproduction of life tends to make the work monotonous and boring. To avoid this issue, artists can make use of the uncertainties of life.Different life experiences can make artists have unique emotions,so as to make contemporary paintings constantly bring forth the new. |
