| Since 2016,China’s Ministry of Education promulgated the framework of "key competence of Chinese students’ development",the "key competence" has been treated as a hot topic that people talked a lot and a hot field that education researchers cared a lot in recent years.At the same time,it also makes teachers in primary and secondary schools pay close attention to subject key competence.The key competence of English literacy includes language ability,thinking quality,cultural awareness and learning ability.The study mainly uses questionnaire survey and interview to investigate the current situation of primary school students’ extracurricular reading of English picture books in X primary school in S city.The collected data were analyzed for the correlation between the primary school students’ extracurricular reading of English picture books and the cultivation of key competence of English literacy.Based on the content of key competence of English literacy,this study designed two questionnaires,called The Current Situation of Primary School Students’ Extracurricular Reading of English Picture Books(Student Volume)and The Correlation Between the Primary School Students’ Extracurricular Reading of English Picture Books and the Improvement of Key Competence of English Literacy,and they were divided into different dimensions from the perspective of key competencies.Through the investigation,several problems have been found,for example,the outside world does not pay enough attention to the extracurricular reading of English picture books,extracurricular reading of English picture books is helpful to improve primary school students’ reading interest and reading ability,primary school students’ extracurricular reading of English picture books needs more correct reading guidance.Through the correlation analysis,this study found that the advantages of organizing primary school students’ extracurricular reading activities of English picture books from the perspective of key competencies.For example,it can improve primary school students’ language ability in many ways,it can promote the development of primary school students’ multiple thinking ability,it will develop primary school students’ independent learning capability,it can also deepen the primary school students’ understanding of culture.At last,through the analysis of the problems existing in the current situation,this study gets some inspiration about organizing primary school students’ extracurricular reading activities of English picture books from the perspective of key competencies.For instance,optimizing the content of English picture books,conducting the pre-reading guidance,focusing on the post-reading feedback,insisting on student-oriented reading and promoting parent-child reading. |
