Restoration Techniques Of Huang Pilie’s Ancient Books With Missing Pages Research And Practice

Huang pilie is one of the most famous book collectors and philologists in Chinese history.He is also a famous master of ancient book repair.In recent years,the tutor led his classmates to conduct a comprehensive field investigation on the repair and decoration techniques of Huang pilie’s ancient books on the basis of previous studies.This paper intends to study the repair techniques and ideas of Huang pilie’s ancient books with missing leaves in the remnant volume based on Huang pilie’s repair postscript and combined with the investigation results of the original book.After combing Huang pilie’s postscript,(hereinafter referred to as "Huang postscript"),Statistics show that there are48 kinds of ancient books with missing leaves in the remnant book of Huang pilie’s collection,all of which have been repaired.Through the "Huang Ba",we found that Huang pilie used techniques such as "matching","filling plain paper","painting columns and filling characters" and "filling missing characters" to deal with the ancient books with incomplete leaves,and tried to restore their original appearance according to the situation of the ancient books,so as to really repair their leaves and restore their contents.However,Huang Pi lie takes a very rigorous attitude towards restoring the contents of ancient books.If he can’t find the missing leaves of the same version,he will first supplement plain paper to eliminate doubts,reflecting Huang Pi lie’s restoration philosophy of "repairing the old as the old" and "seeking truth,truth and perfection".The article is divided into three chapters.The first chapter comprehensively investigates the restoration activities of the ancient books with incomplete leaves in the "huangba" and presents them in the form of tables;The second chapter discusses Huang’s specific restoration techniques of ancient books with incomplete books and missing leaves;The third chapter summarizes Huang pilie’s concept of restoration and decoration of ancient books,and applies Huang’s repair techniques and standards,such as imitating plain paper,making up words in painting columns,widening the brain of books,to the restoration of volume 9 of the book of rites engraved in the Qing Dynasty of his graduation works,especially the repair of paper and painting columns with a pen and boat,which partially realizes the combination of "repair" and "restoration" of the layout of ancient books and damaged book leaves,which can only be repaired compared with contemporary times The mechanical repair method of small book brain without change has been improved,so that the repaired books are easy to read and beautiful,which meets the aesthetic requirements of ancient book binding.Although Huang pilie’s restoration techniques and ideas have been more than 200 years,they still have academic theoretical value and reference and application significance for the contemporary era,and will also greatly enrich the restoration and binding of ancient books,a Chinese intangible cultural heritage.
