The raging of the new crown has exacerbated the uncertainty of the century-old change, resulting in a weaker growth rate of import, export and investment under the new economic normal.Consumption has become the main engine driving economic growth, and cultural consumption,as the focus of consumption upgrades, has gradually become a new fulcrum to promote economic transformation. From 2018 to2022,the State Council mentioned in the government work report for five consecutive years that the expansion of domestic demand should be the strategic basis for economic and social development. Therefore, focusing on the research on provincial differences and influencing factors of cultural consumption is conducive to grasping the trend of cultural consumption, improving the level of cultural consumption, and contributing to high-quality economic growth. This paper combs the domestic and foreign literature related to cultural consumption and defines the connotation of "cultural consumption" based on the previous research results.Through the descriptive analysis of the relevant indicators of cultural consumption, the current situation and regional differences of cultural consumption in my country can be explained. The research based on the national time series data from 2000 to 2019 found that the national cultural consumption level has expanded but not improved in quality, and the supply and demand are unbalanced;the total amount and growth rate of cultural consumption in various provinces and cities show obvious stages. In 2019,the national average cultural consumption level of residents was 3,000 yuan, the highest in Shanghai(3684.19 yuan),and the lowest in Tibet(872.78 yuan).Based on the provincial cross-sectional data in 2019,an index system was constructed to evaluate the level of cultural consumption.Using factor analysis and cluster analysis,it was found that in areas with high levels of cultural consumption, cultural supply played a leading role;in areas with low levels of cultural consumption, cultural demand played a leading role. The main pulling effect;innate factors such as resources, customs, and industries limit the further improvement of the level of cultural consumption in various places.Based on the provincial panel data from 2000 to 2019,the model was established, the impact of different factors on cultural consumption was estimated by using fixed effect regression, the stability of the model was tested by quantile regression and the threshold model was established with the industrial structure as the threshold variable to study the influence factors of cultural consumption.nonlinear effects. The fixed effect regression results are: for every 1 unit increase in industrial structure, education level, government support and income level, the cultural consumption of residents will increase by 530.86,455.62,2.22 and 0.04 units respectively, and for every increase in housing prices and financial expenditure by 1 unit, the cultural consumption of residents will increase by 1 unit.Consumption will fall by 0.06 and373.35 units. This shows that among the variables studied, the driving effect on residents’ cultural consumption is,in descending order, industrial structure, education level, government support and income level, and housing prices and general public budget expenditures have crowding out effects on residents’ cultural consumption. The quantile regression shows that when the quantile is 0.5,the quantile regression results are basically consistent with the fixed effects and in line with expectations, which greatly strengthens the expectation of the robustness of the model.Through the threshold effect test,a single threshold model with the industrial structure as the threshold variable and income and education as the core explanatory variables was established respectively, and the estimated threshold values were 1.06.This shows that the influence of income and education on cultural consumption has a nonlinear effect and the industrial structure can promote the positive effect of the two.On the basis of this research, suggestions are made from three aspects: cultural construction, education and income distribution.
