In 2013,Xi Jinping proposed that translation for global communication should be innovated and new concepts and expressions that connect China and the rest part of the world should be created so as to tell China’s stories and spread its voice. In 2022,in order to better communicate new ideas, concepts and perspectives on China’s educational development to the international community, the English version of Understanding Xi Jinping’s Educational Philosophy, which was translated by Beijing Foreign Studies University organized by the Ministry of Education, has been published and distributed by Foreign Language Teaching and Research Press and Higher Education Press. This study takes Understanding Xi Jinping’s Educational Philosophy as the research material and analyzes its translation from the perspective of political equivalence, specifically,"political orientation","dynamics",and"equilibrium".The findings reveal that when translating Xi Jinping’s discourses, the translators flexibly use translation strategies including literal translation, free translation, addition, and omission. From the dimension of "political orientation",the translation achieves "political" equivalence by properly capturing the political connotation present in the original language. In terms of "dynamics",the translators adhere to the discourse context and social setting of the source language, making the rendering dynamic. The original and translation exhibit a good degree of "equilibrium"both in forms and contents. Therefore, the English translation of Understanding Xi Jinping’s Educational Philosophy achieved "political equivalence",which serves as an example in the course of translation for China’s global communication.
