In September 2021,the "14th Five-Year Plan" Implementation Plan for Comprehensive Revitalization of Northeast China was approved and implemented,making the comprehensive revitalization of Northeast China urgent.In the context of the new round of revitalization,cross-cultural communication is crucial,and accurate translation of ethnic minority folk books in Northeast China is an important part of it.Among them,food culture is a major feature of Northeast China.This task is to translate Food Culture in Northeast China(excerpts)into English.The report is mainly about the Korean and Hui food cultures in Northeast China.Under the guidance of Newmark’s Communicative Translation Theory,the translator carefully analyzes and summarizes typical cases in translation practices from the lexical,syntactical and textual perspectives.At the lexical level of translation,for words of ethnic minority,the translator conveys their in-depth information through paraphrase,transliteration with annotation and omission.At the syntactical level of translation,the translator accurately conveys the source text through division,inversion and voice conversion.At the textual level of translation,the translator logically sorts out the selected text,starting from textual cohesion and coherence,and uses reference,substitution and omission to ensure a smooth translation.Putting the readers at the first priority,the translator restores the text information in the source language to the greatest extent,so that the target language readers can better understand and accept it,and the object of communication can ultimately be achieved.This translation practice further explores the role of the communicative translation theory in the food culture text translation of ethnic minority,which is to say the application value and guiding significance of the theory.This practice also provides reference language materials for the English translation of this text,and aims to contribute to the development and fusion of ethnic minority cultures in Northeast China.At the same time,let the target language readers understand the unique folk culture in Northeast China so that the folk culture "goes global".
