A Report On E-C Translation Of Sci-Tech News In China Daily Under The Guidance Of Functionalist Skopos Theory

With the deepening of reform and opening up,news translation is becoming more and more important.The quality of news translation will have an impact on a certain region,city and even the whole country.Therefore,it is of great theoretical and practical significance to pay attention to the selection of news translation principles and translation strategies for the improvement of translation quality.Scholars of skopos theory argue that the translator should not be confined to the original text,but should translate the parts considered important by the translator and strive to make the translation acceptable to the target readers from the target recipient group.It has three main principles:skopos rule,coherence rule and fidelity rule.Under the guidance of skopos theory,the author will take skopos theory as the guide and take sci-tech news translated by translators during their internship in China Daily as examples to analyze the feasibility and practicability of skopos theory in sci-tech news translation,as well as the different translation strategies according to it in terms of vocabulary,syntax,text and culture.The report has five parts.The first part is a brief introduction of the translation project,including the background of the translation project,the significance of the translation project and the outline of the report.The second part is a literature review.This part describes the development history as well as the consist of functionalist skopos theory and discuss the studies on Sci-Tech news translation by domestic and foreign scholars.The third part is the description of translation process.The fourth part is case analysis,which is also an important part of the whole report.In this part,the author will take the sci-tech news translated during the internship in China Daily as examples and analyze them from the lexical,syntactic,textual and cultural levels.The fifth part is the conclusion.In this chapter,the author summarize the major findings in this report and point out the limitations.
