A Report On The E-C Translation Of The Cruise Handbook(Excerpted) From The Perspective Of Text Typology

As a kind of practical translation,tourism translation plays an important role in cross-cultural communication.Handbooks are commonly seen and used in different tourism texts to introduce destinations and promote products.Among various tourism modes,cruise is constantly developing.Therefore,it is necessary for translators of tourism texts to update their knowledge of cruise manuals.The source text of this report is excerpted from a travel guide,The Cruise Handbook.It shows vivid words,comprehensive information and strong appeal.How to accurately convey information in idiomatic Chinese,reflect the logic clearly and keep the content interesting and practical are keys to this translation practice.Based on this,the author chooses text typology as her perspective,focuses on the translation cases of typical informative and vocative texts,and explores Chinese translation strategies at lexical,syntactic and textual levels.The report finds that in the translation of tourism texts,by carefully analyzing the text type and communicative wording of the source text and adopting skills including compensation,paraphrase,division,etc.,the accuracy and fluency of the target language can be improved,and the purpose of introducing and appealing can be achieved.The author hopes that the discussion of this report can provide a reference for other translators of tourism texts and,at the same time,increase the understanding and interest of Chinese tourists in cruises to a certain extent.
