A Report On Revision Of C-E Subtitling Of The International Online Interview Friends Of Nanning Around The World Under Mossop’s Revision Parameters

As audiovisual resources spread rapidly worldwide,high-quality subtitling becomes increasingly essential in the audiovisual industry.This report is on the revision of subtitling of the international online interview “Friends of Nanning Around the World”.The revision task discussed in this report is assigned by Nanning Foreign Affairs Office.The interview is about the cooperation between Nanning and its sister cities in trade,economy,education,COVID-19 response,etc.,and introduces products from the 18 th China-ASEAN Expo.This report will analyze ways to improve the quality of subtitling based on its features.Based on Mossop’s seven revision parameters(accuracy,logic,idiom,tailoring,etc.),the author finds that revisers can shorten the subtitles through condensation,simplification,and omission;revisers can refine the target text by diction,semantic cohesion,and perspective shift;revisers can showcase the different language styles via the proper use of colloquial language,formal language and sub-language.Finally,the author hopes that the analysis and discussion in this report can provide some inspiration for further studies on the revision of subtitling.
