With the rapid development of transgenic technology in recent years, transgenic biotechnology and transgenic agriculture have also entered to a period of rapid development. On the one hand, the number of countries planting genetically modified(GM)crops is increasing;on the other hand, the variety of GM crops is increasing and the planting area is expanding.Transgenic technology has significant advantages in solving problems of global food shortages. However, different countries have different attitudes towards it.Some countries are strongly supportive, while others are cautious. In this translation practice the book GM Food Systems and Their Economic Impact was selected as the source text book. This book analyzes regulations, agricultural policies, and agricultural trade relations about transgenic technology in various countries from an objective and neutral perspective. This provides a basis for us to systematically and comprehensively study the GM policies of developed and developing countries. The source text of the translation belongs to English for Science and Technology.English for Science and Technology is characterized by objectivity, accuracy and rigor. With the introduction of scientific and technological information, the translation of English for Science and Technology has become an integral part of translation. In this translation practice report the translator first analyzes the characteristics of English for science and technology and the difficulties encountered in the translation process.Taking Nida’s Dynamic Equivalence Theory as the theoretical basis of this translation practice, the translator discusses the translation skills and methods of English for science and technology at the lexical and syntactic levels.GM Food Systems and Their Economic Impact is a technical book,so there are plenty of technical words and phrases,as well as long and difficult sentences. It’s not easy to achieve formal equivalence and semantic equivalence in translation work.In this report, the translator mainly uses translation aid tools such as dictionaries, online encyclopedias like Wikipedia to solve the difficulties at words level. As for difficulties at the syntactic level, the translator adopts translation methods like linear translation, addition, omission, repetition, and reverse translation.Besides, voice conversion is used when dealing with translation of passive voice.Through this translation practice, the translator’s translation ability of English for science and technology has been greatly improved. It is hoped that this translation practice report will contribute a little to the research of English for science and technology translation.
