Research On Li Dazhao’s Thought And Practice Of Public Opinion Before And After The May 4th Movement

In the past two years,along with the great moment of the 100 th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China,our country has set off an upsurge of remembering our ancestors and reliving great ideas.We should take the road ahead and not forget the way we came.Around 1919,it was an active period of public opinion in modern China.The confusion of social situation and the interweaving of various ideological trends led people to pay more attention to public opinion than ever before.Li Dazhao is a famous thinker and editor in China,and the pioneer of the earliest spread of Marxism in China.This paper takes Li Dazhao before and after the May 4th Movement as the research object,and Li Dazhao’s public opinion thought and its practice as the research center.It is found that the formation of Li Dazhao’s public opinion thought is inseparable from the influence of John Stuart Mill,Rousseau,Marx and others.The author realizes that the formation of Li Dazhao’s public opinion thought is not smooth and consistent.His development has mainly gone through the enlightenment stage,the transformation stage and the stage when his thought reached a qualitative leap and gradually matured after the May 4th Movement.After further research,it is known that the contents of Li Dazhao’s public opinion thoughts are mainly manifested in the freedom of speech and publication and the resistance to "news aggression",the tolerance principle of public opinion subjects,the sinicization of Marxist public opinion view and the populist public opinion thought.It is found that these thoughts are all distinctive and revolutionary.The study of Li Dazhao’s public opinion thought is inseparable from his newspaper-running practice and revolutionary propaganda activities,and his thought depends on practice and guides practice.The embodiment of Li Dazhao’s public opinion thought in practice mainly includes such activities as long-term engagement in newspapers,effective mobilization of public opinion for diverse social groups,and construction of discourse space for public opinion.By sorting out the historical materials about Li Dazhao’s public opinion thoughts before and after the May 4th Movement,and combining with Li Dazhao’s practice in newspapers and periodicals and his revolutionary propaganda experience,we can better understand that period of history.As a branch of Li Dazhao’s ideological research,his public opinion thought is an important cornerstone for him to engage in journalism and complete the transformation of Marxist thought.
