| Erhu is a traditional Chinese folk instrument with great musical expressiveness.Being popular among the general public,it has become an indispensable part of our lives.George Gao is an outstanding and innovative Erhu performer and composer today.One of his masterpieces,“Capriccio No.1 for Erhu”,is a melodic work in the Chinese five-tone mode combined with the composition techniques of Western music,which focuses on the fusion of Chinese and Western musical cultures,thus being loved many erhu players and enthusiasts.From the perspective of a performer,this paper attempts to analyze the composition ideas,performance techniques and musical expressions of “Capriccio No.1 for Erhu” based on the collation and study of relevant information.It further summarizes the qualities required from performers,and explores the work’s innovative implications,so as to provide some references for future performers of his works. |
