Research On The Observational Documentaries Creation In China

Although observational documentaries use the interview methods of integrating participatory documentaries in order to quickly approach the interviewee and the core of the event in the creative practice,they still adhere to the core concept of "no intervention and no control" advocated by "direct film",and strive to show the audience the true picture of the world.Observational documentaries originated in the West,and the observation shooting method and documentary creation concept promoted the development of China’s new documentary movement,and had an important impact on Chinese documentary creation.With the development of the times and the advancement of technology,the creative concepts and creative techniques of documentaries have been constantly updated,and the creators of observational documentaries in China have actively explored the creation of observational documentaries in practice,and have made new breakthroughs in form,volume,theme,space setting and other aspects.The first chapter of this thesis considers observational documentaries in the historical dimension,trying to clearly and accurately clarify their concepts,theoretical sources,development in the West,and representative figures.The second chapter summarizes the characteristics of observational documentaries through the study of the creation methods and aesthetic characteristics of observational documentaries,so as to form a grasp of the overall characteristics of observational documentaries.Chapter 3 focuses on the development of observational documentaries in China,experiencing three periods of conceptual enlightenment,prosperity and development and a new turn in the new media era,focusing on the new documentary movement that emerged in the 90 s and observational documentaries in the new media period,exploring the three aspects of the creation subject,narrative perspective and narrative mode of observational documentaries in the new documentary movement period and entering the new media era.Storytelling,storytelling,and privacy-preserving spatial settings unfold.Chapter 4 is a reflection and prospect on the current situation of observational documentary creation,mainly discussing the controversies related to creative methods,video ethics and documentary spirit brought about by the creative concept of "silent observation",and exploring the commercial operation of observational documentaries.The fifth chapter is the creation and elaboration of the observational documentary "Where to Go ",which is mainly divided into two parts: the first part is the director’s exposition,which realizes the overall grasp of the observational documentary "Where to Go " from three aspects: creative background,creative content and creative reflection;The second part is the explanation of the specific shooting methods of observational documentaries,and the feedback on the creation methods of observational documentaries after practice.
