As a pioneer in the practice of "pioneering music" in China,Tan Dun has composed in a wide variety of fields and styles."Eight Memories in Watercolor Paintings" is a work of Tan Dun from the early days of his career,composed in 1978,when he was away from home and studying abroad.The work consists of eight small pieces,namely "Missing Moon","Staccato Beans","Herdboy’s Song","Blue Nun","Red Wilderness","Ancient Burial","Floating Clouds" and "Sunrain".Starting from the author’s biography and the background of the creation of "Memories of Eight Watercolor Paintings" the author will discuss two aspects of "Memories of Eight Watercolor Paintings" artistic characteristics and performance analysis.First,the article discusses the artistic characteristics,which refer to activities such as painting,music,poetry,sculpture,architecture,and dance.Art,as the unity of subjectivity and objectivity,makes art inevitably figurative,aesthetic,and other characteristics.In this paper,we focus on music,painting and poetry,take music figuratively as the entry point,and combine the paintings of painter Chen Wen ze to explore the generic fusion between music,painting and poetry under the characteristics of art.Through the different senses,the senses communicate with each other.This chapter discusses the fusion of points,lines and surfaces in music and painting,the fusion of colors in music and painting,and the fusion of music and poetry,mobilizing all the senses of the performer to deeply experience the connotation of the work,to find the beauty of the context and the deep emotions expressed by the composer,and to attach a sense of figurative images to the music,so that the performer can have more perspectives to interpret and understand the work,This allows the performer to interpret and understand the work from more perspectives.Secondly,in the performance analysis,the paper focuses on the imitation of the timbre of folk instruments in Chinese piano works,the interpretation of Chinese style works with Western instruments,and the connection between the musical signs of the piano music,such as double leaning,front leaning and back leaning,and the scraping,plucking and glissando of folk instruments under Western techniques.In addition,the students will investigate the playing of skipping notes,accents and polyphony,such as the"hook" or "catch" of skipping notes,the "push" and "swing" of accents,and the "swing" of polyphony."The method of playing multi-melodic phrases in polyphonic music.
