A Case Study Of Mental Verbs In Contemporary Chinese Learner’s Dictionary

The contemporary Chinese learner’s dictionary is a new Chinese learner’s dictionary published in the last two years.Compared with some Chinese learner’s dictionaries before,it pays more attention to the use of many examples,and pay attention to convey certain pragmatic and cultural information.As a special and complicated kind of verbs,psychological verbs have been paid close attention to and studied by many scholars in recent years.The scope of their research is very extensive,involving many levels,including syntax,semantics,cognition,valency and other aspects,but for some issues,there is no more general understanding,for example,there is no unified standard for the definition of psychological verbs,and the study of examples of psychological verbs is even less.Based on the facts of Chinese language,this paper first makes a detailed study of the psychological verbs in contemporary Chinese learning dictionary,and redefines and classifies them,then it studies the form and content of the examples from the example of the mental verbs.At last,it summarizes the advantages and disadvantages of the examples in contemporary Chinese learning dictionary,and puts forward some suggestions for revision.This article mainly includes four parts.The first part is introduction.This part mainly discusses the research background and value,the present research situation,the research methods and the sources of corpus,and points out the basis of this paper.The second part is the determination and classification of psychological verbs.This part uses two standards,namely,the meaning standard and the grammar standard to determine the psychological verbs,and introduces the classification of the psychological verbs in detail.Finally,it introduces the syntactic functions of the psychological verbs in contemporary Chinese learner’s dictionary.The third part is the analysis of the form and content of mental verbs.This section is mainly through consulting the“Contemporary Chinese learning dictionary” of all the examples of psychological verbs,summed up the examples of the relevant forms of psychological verbs,the content of examples includes three aspects: grammatical information,semantic information and pragmatic and cultural information,this paper makes an all-round description,analysis and summary of the content of the examples of psychological verbs.The fourth part is about the advantages and disadvantages of examples of psychological verbs in contemporary Chinese learner’s dictionary and some suggestions for revision.On the basis of the analysis of the form and content of the concrete examples of the mental verbs in the first part,this paper sums up the advantages and disadvantages of the examples of the mental verbs,and in view of the existing problems in the proposed amendments.
