| Design thinking can not only improve the functions of products and services, but also convey beauty and ideas, and propose new ideas to solve problems.China’s research on design thinking is not mature enough, and it still needs to learn from developed countries. Therefore, translating relevant foreign achievements is of great significance. This translation practice selects the book Design Thinking by Kaushik Kumar and Muralidhar Kurni as the source text of E-C translation practice. It was first published in 2022 as a handbook of design thinking, which is an easy-reading informative text.Proposed by a famous English translator Peter Newmark in 1981,the Communicative Translation Theory emphasizes that the translation should convey accurate and understandable information, and provide the same feelings to readers of the target language as the source language. The language and contents of the book are aligned with the standards of this theory, which are information accuracy,equivalence-expected effect, and reader-oriented strategies.Hence, the translator selects this theory to guide her translation practice.Under the above three standards, the translator selects the translation methods of terminology,annotation,four-character expression, paraphrasing, addition, shifting, cohesionas well as omission to guide her translation practice on the lexical, syntactic and textual level, which makes the translated text meet the reading habits of Chinese.Under the guidance of this theory, the translation not only proves to be smooth and natural but also ensures the equivalent transmission of the original information. The thesis hopes to serve as a reference for translation of design thinking and popular science. |
