A Report On The Translation Of Human-Centered AI (Chapter 1-5)

This is a translation project report.The source text Human-Centered AI(Chapters1-5)written by Ben Schneiderman examines the future of artificial intelligence,the difference between artificial intelligence and human-oriented artificial intelligence,and the influence of empiricism and intellectualism on artificial intelligence.It also explores the exponential impact of artificial intelligence and automation on global economy and employment.The source text is a technology-related informative text with simple language and explicit explanations.Guided by communicative translation theory,the translator endeavors to tackle major translation challenges including technical terms,deixis,parts of speech,and complex and compound sentences by deploying key translation techniques such as annotation,explication,conversion of parts of speech,and reconstruction.The aim is to optimize information rendering in the target language.The translation project has consolidated the translator’s competence in using communicative translation theory in pragmatic translation activities and the selection of translation strategy,methods and techniques in conducting science and technology-related informative texts from English to Chinese.
