| President Xi(2018)emphasizes that adhering to the fundamental educational task of fostering virtue through education in our country is necessary.To carry out the fundamental educational task,we should coordinate all the forces and realize it throughout the whole discipline(Tang,2020).Curriculum ideological and political education(abbreviated as “CIPE”)proposed in recent years is an important measure to implement the fundamental task of fostering virtue through education.At the same time,English,as one of the main courses in senior high school,has an essential educational value and should assume the critical task of ideological and political education.Currently,the research and construction of CIPE in elementary education are still in the initial stage,so it is of great theoretical and practical significance to explore the current situation of CIPE in senior high school English course.This study adopts the methods of questionnaire survey,text analysis,classroom observation and interview,and selects 61 teachers and 608 students in grade 1,grade 2,and grade 3 of 5 senior high schools in Ganzhou City,Jiangxi Province as the research objects.Through the investigation of the current situation of CIPE in senior high school English course,this study finds the existing problems,analyzes the influencing factors,and finally puts forward the corresponding improvement measures.The main questions of this study are as follows:(1)What is the current situation of CIPE in senior high school English course?(2)What are the causes that affect CIPE in senior high school English course?It is found that most teachers and students have realized the importance of CIPE,and some teachers have carried out CIPE in senior high school English course.However,there are still many aspects to be improved,which are mainly reflected in the following: Teachers do not dig deep into texts,and the teaching design of the ideological and political part is too simple;Teachers do not know enough about CIPE,and ideological and political elements and English knowledge teaching are not organically integrated;Teachers’ teaching methods are single and lack of guidance to students,and the classroom teaching effect is not ideal;The implementation of CIPE is random and unsystematic,and there is no effective evaluation method.The causes that affect the current situation are as follows: Traditional test-oriented education ideas lead to teaching focusing on knowledge transfer rather than value guidance;Schools and relevant education departments have not paid enough attention;Teachers’ ideological and political teaching literacy is uneven.Based on the above results,this study puts forward suggestions for improvement from four aspects: strengthening teacher training,optimizing curriculum construction,improving teaching design,and paying attention to guiding teaching. |
