It has been more than 120 years since the birth of film. From the recording of fragments under a single lens,to unintentional clips,to feature films presented on the screen through clips, film narration has gradually progressed with the development of film.In the process of continuous exploration of film narration, linear narration is the first and dominant form in movies. The 1916 film "The Party Meets Differences" directed by David Griffith can be said to be the earliest nonlinear narrative film to appear in the public eye.In the 1990 s,with the new changes in film narrative, audience acceptance gradually increased, nonlinear narrative films followed suit.Nonlinear narrative films are linked to genre films in terms of themes, elements, and styles. In places that are closer to the life and interest of the times, they are revitalized and rhythmically updated, gradually becoming a narrative structure that audiences enjoy.Based on the main theoretical basis of nonlinear narration in film narratology, this thesis explores the important role of nonlinear narration in feature films through the analysis of my own work "The One Who Gave Me the Stars".The paper is divided into five parts.Firstly,in the introduction section, the research background and significance are described, and the research status at home and abroad is reviewed, clarifying the research methods and innovations of this paper. The second part defines the relevant concepts used in this article, classifies the structure of nonlinear narrative, and summarizes the evolution of nonlinear narrative feature films. The third part mainly discusses the application of nonlinear narration in drama films through two elements: space-time relationship and narrative perspective. The fourth part describes the nonlinear narrative logic in the graduation work "The One Who Gave Me the Stars",which is summarized from multiple aspects such as plot,characters,audio-visual,and so on.The final part mainly discusses the creative perspective of nonlinear narration, and puts forward personal views from the perspectives of viewing experience, philosophical thinking, and humanistic care,as well as the balance between business and art, with a view to providing some suggestions for current film creation.
