The Li brocade is an important vehicle for the transmission of Hainan’s regional culture, and is an important testimony to the nation’s cultural confidence and heritage, with its "spinning, dyeing, weaving and embroidery" techniques being a living heritage cultural resource at the national level.2009 saw the inscription of the Li brocade on the UNESCO list of intangible cultural heritage in urgent need of protection. At present, there is a growing body of academic research on the Li brocade, and there have been many publications and works that use cultural genetic theory to study traditional handicrafts. This paper builds on the work of previous authors, and through field research and visits to inheritors, identifies and extracts and classifies the cultural factors of Li brocade in the Mobil dialect region, summarises the pattern patterns, and traces the causes of its cultural genetic formation. The thesis has five main parts. The first part firstly explains the background, significance and content of the study, integrates the current status of domestic and international research through extensive literature collection and intensive reading, introduces theories related to cultural genes, and clarifies the content and framework of the study. The second part is a comprehensive overview of the origin and development of Hainan Li brocade, its living environment, process and artistic characteristics. In addition, through a combination of documentary research and fieldwork, the study compares the Ikat dyeing techniques of the Mei Foo Li brocade with those of other ethnic regions at home and abroad, and analyses the uniqueness of the former. The third section analyses the cultural DNA of the Mei Foo brocade in terms of material, pattern, type, technique, art and production. The fourth section focuses on the analysis and charting of the extracted cultural factors of Mei Foo Li brocade, summarising the analysis in terms of the basic units of Mei Foo Li brocade, the way the patterns are shaped and the form of organisation. The fifth section focuses on the genetic and cultural origins of the Mei Foo Li brocade patterns, including an analysis of the patterns and colours of the brocade, and an analysis of cultural, social and religious practices. It also discusses the cultural commonalities between the Mei Foo Li brocade and other traditional Li crafts, and the reasons for the formation of the Mei Foo Li brocade cultural genes.Based on the above research,it can be concluded that there are four types of pattern patterns: simplified, exaggerated, geometric and complete;the patterns are organised in layers, symmetrical and balanced,multi-layered and nested, etc.;the patterns of the skirt are divided into patterns with and without a main body, and the main pattern is composed in two-sided and four-sided succession.Secondly,by comparing the cultural factors of colour patterns in the five dialectal regions, the correlations are summarised, and the cultural commonalities between Li myths and legends, traditional Li handicrafts such as the kilt, tattoos, bone hairpins and paper-cutting are verified through documentary and historical sources. Finally, the formation of the cultural genes of the Mei Foo Li brocade was investigated, revealing that the Li people share a common cultural identity, beliefs and worship,as well as a social and production environment, which together have contributed to the prosperity of the Li brocade and the transmission of its cultural genes.
