| In the 1950s,a major reform took place in rural China, which led to a gradual transition from the traditional private ownership of the means of production by small farmers to a socialist collective ownership system. Before the land reform, the rural areas of BAISE district were dominated by the feudal landlord land ownership system, and the landlords exploited the poor peasants cruelly. Before the agricultural cooperative movement was launched, the BAISE prefecture carried out a series of work to clear the bandits and fight against hegemony, land reform and so on.It provided good social conditions for the smooth development of the agricultural cooperative movement and trained a large number of active peasant cadres. The BAISE Special Zone carried out the agricultural cooperative movement from 1951 to the summer of 1956 in the 12 counties under its jurisdiction.Through the agricultural cooperative movement, the BAISE Prefecture improved the production conditions in agriculture and rural areas, reshaped the political structure of rural grassroots party organizations, and laid the foundation for socialist construction in terms of cadres, organizations and the masses. In addition, the deeper reasons for the poor management and rapid development of cooperatives in the later stages of co-operativeization are also discussed.Taking the agricultural cooperative movement of BAISE Special Zone as an entry point,we summarize its successful experiences and lessons, which are of great significance for the realization of agricultural modernization. |
