| China is the only country in the world whose civilization has no break,and the excellent Chinese traditional culture has laid the deepest historical foundation for our cultural self-confidence.In the face of a century of great changes,vigorously promoting excellent Chinese traditional culture in the new era will undoubtedly further strengthen our cultural self-confidence.At the same time,spreading the excellent Chinese culture to the world will not only enhance our cultural influence but also be a necessary way to improve China’s soft power.Water culture is an important part of Chinese civilization,and the English translation of related water contents can not only help foreign readers better understand China’s profound water culture but also further promote the exchange between Chinese and Western water culture.This translation practice report adopts CEA theory to translate the content related to the Yellow River and the Yellow River culture.CEA theory is created by Li Changshuan,a famous Professor from Beijing Foreign Studies University and CEA means comprehension,expression,and adaptation.The report first introduces the translation project from two aspects:a short introduction of the source text and the meaning of the translation project,and then introduces the translation process in three stages: preparation before translation,the translation process,and proofreading after translation.The translator then briefly introduces the CEA theory and selects some typical examples to specifically analyze the translation process and explains how the translator solved the problems after realizing the shortcomings in the first translation,which greatly helps the translator to better understand comprehension,expression,and adaptation.Finally,the translator concludes the inadequacies and corresponding solutions and reflects on the gains and experiences from the translation project. |
