The interaction between Yuan Mei and female poets has always been highly regarded.Especially his behavior of recruiting female disciples has caused considerable controversy.Since the May Fourth Movement,the academic community holds a positive attitude towards Yuan Mei’s actions of opposing female foot-binding,encouraging female creativity and promoting female education.What’s more,Yuan Mei was elevated to the height of anti feudalism and seen as a trumpeter for women’s liberation.Therefore,it is necessary to fairly evaluate Yuan Mei’s contributions.This article takes Yuan Mei’s criticism of boudoir poetry as the object,analyzes his critical standards and characteristics,and further considers his role in the development of women’s poetry.The introduction section clarifies the basis for selecting the topic,the research ideas,and the significance of the topic selection.From the four aspects of his life,poetics,literary theory and novels,this paper summarizes the research achievements of Yuan Mei since the new century,and roughly reviews the key points,hotspots,and shortcomings in Yuan Mei’s research.The first chapter introduces the historical background and ideological basis.From the perspective of the era environment during the Ming and Qing dynasties,the development of economy and culture laid the foundation for the rise of female literature.The prosperity of the publishing industry,the popularity of emotional enlightenment and the professionalization of educated women,have won wide support for the promotion of female poets and their works.Yuan Mei’s ideas also had an important impact on women’s literature.By analyzing the rebelliousness of his thoughts,the poetic view of "emotion as the foundation of poetry",and the ways of commercial management,explores his contributions in promoting female creation and spreading female fame.The second chapter discusses the criterion of Yuan Mei ’s criticism.First of all,this paper analyzes Yuan Mei’s different selection and evaluation criteria for three different styles of notes on poets and poetry,poetry selection and preface.Notes on poets and poetry based on extensive selection,strict control of quality.The poetry selection of female disciples implemented Yuan Mei’s pursuit of expressing one’s character and spirit,and also noted the combination of both.The preface emphasizes the the dissemination of poetry,emphasizes the essence of poetry.Secondly,it introduces Yuan Mei’s specific guidance to female poetry creation.From three aspects: the creative subject,creative process,and text presentation,it introduces Yuan Mei’s creative theory.Finally,it points out the two aesthetic standards of "Qing" and "Qu"."Qing" mainly explores the true nature female poetry,while "Qu" is the pursuit of liveliness and vividness.The third chapter combines Yuan Mei’s critical practice to analyze the uniqueness of her female poetry criticism.As a critic,he experienced a transformation in his identity from an "official" to a "literati".He also consciously promotes female works as a male critic.In terms Abtract of criticism strategies,Yuan Mei won a wide range of reading groups through secularization,lowered the threshold for creators with an inclusive attitude and gained some discourse power by forming a group of Sui Yuan female disciples.From the point of view of critical thinking,He presents the characteristics of heavy experience.He excels at criticizing in a holistic intuitive manner and elevates to rational analysis based on induction and summarization.The conclusion evaluates Yuan Mei ’s criticism of female poetry.Yuan Mei’s criticism has pointed out the direction for female poetry creation,which is her important contribution.Of course,his criticism is also influenced by non-literary factors and has a certain utilitarian nature.His criticism not only influenced the female poets in the Qing Dynasty,but also had some inspiration for current poetry criticism.
