Research On The Causes And Countermeasures Of High Bride Price In Rural Marriage Market From The Perspective Of Field

In 2023,the No.1 document of the Central Committee made clear instructions to carry out special treatment activities in key areas and prominent problems,such as high betrothal price,conduct large-scale activities,and promote the reform of rural funeral customs.Under the background that the high bride price in rural areas has received such important attention,it is of great significance to explore the reasons and difficulties behind it and help the rural youth to establish a healthy and civilized concept of marriage and love.The research object of this paper is the high dowry price in rural areas.Firstly,through the two data collection methods of interview method and observation method,it is found that rural young people face different situations in different stages of marriage: Local intermarriage has become a widely accepted marriage mode in the local area.At the same time,the parties must pay the material and time costs required by the marriage practice,and accept the economic difficulties,the disharmonious phenomenon of kinship relationship and various psychological pressures brought by the marriage.So why do local people accept and pay high betrothal prices when they marry? By studying Bourdieu’s theory of social practice,this paper tries to explain the reasons why local people can accept high betrothal price from three aspects: individual,capital and local social subculture.Finally,in order to avoid the dilemma and pressure induced by the phenomenon of high bride price,this paper tries to put forward some suggestions from three aspects: policy guidance,social assistance and family education.
