| As the world enters the era of informatization and digitization, digital currency and blockchain technology have become key areas of global technological development, providing broad space for scientific and technological exchanges and cooperation between countries. They are expected to reshape the global financial structure and, therefore, receive widespread attention both domestically and internationally. This paper is a practice report on the simulated consecutive interpretation for the2022 Princeton University academic conference themed “digital currencies and the future of blockchain”.The report mainly explores the orality/literacy shifts that occur in the consecutive interpretation practice with a high degree of professionalism.Four parameters are considered, including filled pauses, nominalization, broken sentences and redundancy.Through case analysis, the advantages and disadvantages of orality/literacy shifts are weighed and corresponding solutions are proposed. This report believes that in highly professional interpretation practices, interpreters can and should consciously de-oralize the source language to cause a literacy shift in the target language, which can help maintain consistency with the professionalism of the theme and preserve the specialized language style of the source language. However, orality shifts may lower the quality of the translation and affect the audience’s understanding of the original text,so they should be avoided. |
