The creation of contemporary Chinese ink figure painting is in a period of diversified development,and there are many outstanding artists with the characteristics of The Times and personal styles.Lu Chen is one of the representative painters.Ink and wash figure painting has a long history and a clear vein.Contemporary ink and wash figure painting inherits the tradition and absorbs the concept of modern western art,presenting a prosperous prospect for development.Lu Chen was one of the earliest artists to propose and practice the innovation and improvement of Chinese painting.His ink and wash works have a distinctive style,inheriting the spirit of traditional Chinese painting and aesthetic pursuit and integrating the expression concept of western modern art,thus stepping out of the road of unique ink and wash figures.He put forward some artistic propositions,such as the modernization and composition of ink painting,which had a profound influence on the creation of ink painting and the education of Chinese painting.This paper makes a comparison between Lu Chen’s ink figure works and those of other contemporary painters,and analyzes their forms of expression and artistic styles,so as to broaden the idea of the choice of expression forms in the creation of ink figure.His works have a wide selection of materials,including works that inherit and innovate the traditional literati’s ink,and works that are full of the spirit of The Times and focus on the current life,showing Lu’s love for traditional culture and The Times he lives in.The study on the expression forms of contemporary ink figure painting represented by Lu Chen’s works can understand the creative ideas and techniques of artists under different cultural backgrounds,and provide a new vision for the development of Chinese ink figure painting.
